Websense security labs reported yesterday an alert about a Trojan related to an e-mail where it is claimed that the Australian Prime Minister had suffered an heart attack. The malware works at different levels: on the one hand , once installed, it monitors users’ accesses to web pages, tracking and keylogging any digital activity. On the other hand , it contains a module that allows phishing activities. Over 2500 computers have been infected up to now and among the victims there are also several banks: Westpac (Australia) A web server is automatically installed on the affected machine, allowing the attacker to access that PC every time it is online. According to Websense, the attacker set up a system composed by a control panel where he can see the full list of the infected machines , their IP addresses, country, ports that can be used to access the machine and also “a link to Google maps which will exactly point out where that IP is located.” (See the example of Google Map infection Locator, provided by the AusCERT)
