In both cases the attackers took advantage of an application flaw to exploit the websites by mean of SQL injection. Microsoft defacement mirror can be viewed here while NASA's one can be viewed here. In the past the Microsoft servers has been hit several times but the record holder is NASA that collected 126 hits (click here to view the full NASA incident history) UPDATE: seems crackers found a convenient way through the CMS used by Microsoft on its MSN websites as also an Israeli MSN site got defaced ...
