The Russians like free trade as much as the rest of the world, but now a popular music download site is in the cross hairs of the MPAA which specifically puts pressure to the U.S. Trade Representatives Office. The site,   allofmp3  allows music downloads of major artist such as The Dixie Chicks, Metallica and Prince as well as a large selection of Russian artists.

For pennies on the dollar compared to authorized outlets such as iTunes and other pay and download vendors they offer an easy way to get what people are wanting, and thats quality, reasonable priced music in an open format we all would like to buy.

Recently Zone-H have been playing with VOIP, specifically the SIP protocol which is powering everything from VOIP hardware phones, wifi and software based "softphones".

We were always searching for new utilities and tools and ran across a freeware VOIP security and protocol tester.

SiVuS provides a very robust platform to perform remote and local VOIP/SIP assessments.

Hack the UK, pass GO, Collect $200

Have the English gone cyber mad?  Two recent incidents seem to indicate so.

Incident one:

A woman who's pc was compromised and its data held ransom tried to go to the authorities but all she got was a shrug from the local bobbies.

Basically she was told that since it did not involve international crime there is nothing they can do. Evidently the standard to meet the criteria for investigation is that the perpetrator must also be involved in large-scale drug dealing or terrorism.

What does all this say? At least for now, or at least in Manchester, it's open season and the UK is full of stuffed turkeys, hackers have the shotguns at the ready.

As you might know, the famous Swedish torrent tracker ThePirateBay.org 's servers have been recently seized, in truly misterious circumnstances by the Swedish Police. As promised in the press release posted on their website, since a few hours ago ThePirateBay.org is back online, after moving the servers to a different country, up to the moment when the Swedish police will release the seized equipment (ThePirateBay.org members and political supporters are quite confident in a happy end of the story)

But do you know what exactly happened during the police raid? Read this news to learn from the voice of the CCC how things went... guaranteed, you won't believe your ears!

Simona Sapienza explores the role played by the UN, the EC and the Financial Action Task Force in shaping the international legal framework to combat terrorist financing.

Like many of their criminal counter-parts, modern terrorist organisations have taken full advantage of the opportunities offered by the globalisation of the capital markets to raise and transfer funds to provide logistical support and training for terrorists, to purchase and transport weapons, and collect information.

What next for Microsoft? They have now come up with the ultimate  catch-22 moneymaker. And you thought they were already too rich? Well it seems they have figured out not only how to bake a cake and sell it to you, but are now selling you the toilet paper so you can wipe after the cake comes out!

Microsoft's new OneCare service is being sold to protect the customers that are affected by the companies own flaws! Priced at usd $49.95 a year this new service offers anti-virus protection, firewall services as well as anti-spyware and even PC tuneup tips as security protections for its own Windows operating system. This is like Ford selling fire insurance for 1970's era Pinto cars that  exploded when rear ended.
