Think about a student , who plays football for his University’s football team, who works for a charitable organization, but who is arrested and has to spend two weeks in jail, because he is considered a material witness in an investigation against another student.
It may look like fiction, but actually this is exactly what happened to Abdullah al-Kidd, a student who played football for the University of Idaho, worked for the Islamic Assembly of North America, and eventually was arrested and imprisoned because a fellow student –Sami Omar Al-Hussain- was involved in a computer terrorism case, in 2003…. We are proud to announce that the Turkish version of Zone-H is now online, thanks to Özden Karabulut, our Turkish mirror manager.
We are also particularly proud to announce that this is the tenth language version after the English, Italian, French, Russian, Spanish, Slovenian, Slovak, Japanese and Portuguese ones.
We keep working hard to make Zone-H better, bigger and moreover, readable by most of the globe villagers (do you know any other ITsec resource attempting to do that?).
As promised, next in line will be the General Arabic, Chinese and Korean. On the other hand, we keep receiving requests to open localized versions for languages such Vietnamese, Philipino, Icelandic etc. Don't worry, sooner or later we will arrive to serve also those languages, just give us the time to accomplish the current tasks in our to-do list.

A new trend is expected to take the rise soon in the cyber security arena. Cyber kamikaze may start their activity pretty soon, according to Australian Army cited on ZDNet.
The menace is indeed possible and as likely as all other attacks, if not more. The basis of this new approach is that attackers would not bother in case they would be caught in action. They will not try to cover tracks or to bounce allover to confuse possible defenders. Instead ... Write Comment (0 Comments) |

Is your web site vulnerable? Make a conclusion by yourself after reviewing the forum on Sla.ckers.org. Since August 21st such a forum shows web addresses of websites affected by XSS (cross-site scripting) vulnerabilities, that have been found thanks to the proof-of-concept of XSS exploit.
The list includes some well known companies and websites: Altavista, MSN, Adobe, Yahoo, Microsoft, Dell, HP, F5, Acunetix, MySpace and so on..
It is necessary to point out that all the websites included in the list are real and are daily used by worldwide users. According to Sla.ckers.org, these experiments on websites‘ security breaches haven’t been carried out to provoke a damage to companies, indeed once they find a vulnerability , they soon inform the concerned company’s webmaster.
In Sla.ckers' members opinion, indeed, the problem about such web pages is that they are nice, easy to use and they provide the customer or visitor various services but sometimes they count on inadequate security measures, that’s why they are likely to be affected by XSS vulnerabilities...

Today on Zone-H the "in-progress" list of defacements that have been set up after Pope Ratzinger's declarations at Regensburg University.
Between September 12th and september 27th, Zone-H database recorded a hike in the number of defacements for religious or political reasons and we highlighted that about 4939 websites have been attacked with the aim of focus on the Islamic protest. A high number of defacements are addressed straight to the Pope, many of them are very bare, and show just short messages, whereas others are far more complex, as that of the Turkish hacker Metlak that shows astonishing images of a hurted child and reports an isult to the Pope. The second day of the Hack In The Box - Malaysia is over, the conference has been a true blast with more than 500 participant (300 the year before), hackers and security professionals from over the world came to pay their tribute to the Asian scene (...and what a scene!).
Believe us, we have seen so many Cons in the world but the friendly atmosphere you can smell at the HITB is really something special. This HITB edition has been a true experience in which hackers demonstrated (if a demonstration was ever needed) that they are GOOD guys (and gals).
Click on the news to read why...
...and by the way, Zone-H got second at the Capture the Flag (just by a bit...)
